    依据人不可侵犯的自然权利和人类理性的局限，洛克主张宗教宽容。基于世俗与神圣、公共与个体的区分，洛克将宗教归之于个人的权利和理性选择，使之成为个人的、私人的问题，进而提倡政教分离，以便公共的政府不干涉属于私人的宗教。宗教成为个体的选择之后，洛克面临的问题是社会的德性基础何在、社会如何整合的问题。这一问题，也是自由主义者面临的问题和挑战。

    Locke stands for religious tolerance according to natural rights and human rational limits. Based on the differentiation between the secular and the sacred and between the public and the private, Locke classifies religion as individual right and rational option, to make it a personal, private issue, and then advocates the separation between politics and religion, for the public government not to interfere personal private religion, after which, however, Locke faces the problems of social moral basis and social integration, which are the problems and challenges the liberalists confront as well.
