    The greatest significance of Spolsky’s “general theory of second language learning” lies in that it virtually announces the end of foreign language teaching “methodology”, brings up a sociolinguistic learning concept that whether or how the learner makes use of the available learning opportunities determines the outcomes of second language learning in the course of the foreign language teaching research with “the language question” as its startingpoint developing toward foreign the language learning research with “the learning question” as its startingpoint, introduces socialcultural conditions into second language acquisition research focusing on psycholinguistics and broadens out the research range of second language acquisition.
