英文摘要：
    “A Rose for Emily”, the wellknown short story by Faulkner, enjoys global popularity ever since its birth. Scholars have a heated discussion about it from different aspects and put forward their unique ideas, which mostly focus on the cause for Emily’s tragedy. This paper attempts to challenge some of their ideas and brings up that Emily’s tragic fate is due to，based on a cautious truthful interpretation of the text, the conflict between her role as a female and as a noblewoman.
